Eine sehr interessante Platte hat die polnische Band VOO VOO zusammen mit HAYDAMAKY aus der Ukraine aufgenommen. Sie heißt schlicht VOO VOO i HAYDAMAKY. VOO VOO ist hierzulande recht unbekannt, aber zuhause in Polen eine der größten Bands. Es gibt sie schon seit fast 25 Jahren und sie haben zahlreiche Fans in Polen.

Voo Voo und Haydamaky präsentieren wahre Geschichten in emotionaler Umsetzung. Wenn man über traditionelle Kunst spricht, sollte man immer die Einstellung der Menschen, den Reichtum an Bedeutungen und das Übersinnliche im Kopf behalten. Beziehungen zu den Menschen, zu Gott, Liebe und einfache Freude am Leben – all das findet man hier wieder.

Den allgemeinen Leitfaden des Albums beschreibt am besten das letzte Stück „Babilon System“. Insgesamt schwankt die Musik zwischen Reggae und Osteuropa-Folk, bzw. Folklore. Die Musik basiert hauptsächlich auf ukrainischem Repertoire mit Wurzeln im Balkan und ausgefeiltem Rock. Die Künstler zeigen hier ausdrucksstark ihre Hingabe zu ihrer Tradition, zur traditionellen Musik in Verbindung mit gewaltiger Energie und viel Fantasie. Voo Voo agiert wie ein musikalischer Filter und das emotionale Spiel von Haydamaky baut darauf auf. Auf dem Album wird auf Polnisch und Ukrainisch gesungen, zu hören sind nicht nur eigene Kompositionen, sondern auch Volkslieder.

Man erhält das Album in einem sehr hochwertig verarbeiteten 28-seitigem Digi-Buch.

A very interesting album was recorded by the Polish band Voo Voo together with Haydamaky from the Ukraine. The name of it is just Voo Voo I Haydamaky.

In the West Voo Voo is almost unknown, but in Poland they are one of the most popular bands.

Voo Voo and Haydamaky present true stories with emotional singing. When talking about roots’ art, you have to keep in mind stability of attitudes and truths, their simple power, abundance of meanings, all metaphysical space – relations with human being, with God, love and the simplest, smiling affirmation of life.

The best song to describe the album is probably “Babilon System” The music is somewhere between Reggae and Eastern European folk. Their music is based mainly on Ukrainian repertoire, which is in a natural way inspired by Balkan roots, scales and rhythms but it also grows from a very rich rock style. The artists show the most expressive part of their music – devotion to their tradition, to music of roots combined with tremendous energy and deep imagination. Voo Voo is acting like a musical filter and the emotional Haydamaky play builds on that. The songs are both in Polish and Ukrainian and you can find here not only songs composed by them but also traditional folk songs.
